Cut Fold Pinch

EXHIBITION

Cut, fold, pinch refers to the gestures applied to flexible surfaces, such as textile for the Midday lamp shades and paper
for the Vingt-quatre heures clocks. These different actions transform smooth flat surfaces into objects.

The paper and textile guide the form of these objects through the way they are structured, stretched, and folded. By seeking to give them volume, their shape is defined according to a structural logic. The lamps are made from a textile that inflates as it is pinched within an aluminum frame. The paper of the clock dial is strengthened by its folds. Conceived as an envelope, it slides into a wall-mounted structure that holds the clock a few centimeters away from the wall. The use of paper allows us to draw the dial with chalk, thus giving the drawing a functional purpose.

Cut, fold, pinch is a flat pack exhibition weighing in total 4.8 kg.
